Raspberry (Rubus idaeus) 'Autumn Bliss'

Proven late primocane variety with high yields and excellent resistance.

'Autumn Bliss' is an excellent and highly popular late-season, primocane-fruiting raspberry variety. Thanks to its reliable and long harvest period from late summer until late autumn, it is a staple in home gardens. It is characterized by large, aromatic fruits and high productivity. It is exceptionally disease resistant, making it an ideal choice for organic cultivation without the use of chemicals.

Key Highlights:

  • Late and long harvest: Fruits from August until the first frosts.
  • Large-fruited: Large, juicy, and firm conical berries.
  • High yield: A reliable and heavy-cropping variety.
  • Excellent resistance: Great plant health, suitable for organic growing.
  • More compact growth (up to 2 m), suitable even for large containers.

Origin and Registration

  • Origin: A traditional and globally recognized variety.

Variety Characteristics

Bush
  • Growth: Medium vigor. Canes grow to a height of 1.5 to 2 meters. Since raspberries grow untidily, it is recommended to provide support (tie to wires).
  • Pollination: The variety is self-fertile.
Fruit
  • Size and Shape: Large to very large fruits, elongated conical shape.
  • Color and Consistency: Bright red color, firm texture.
  • Flavor: Sweet, very juicy, and aromatic. It boasts a very good flavor profile.
  • Usage: Excellent for fresh consumption, in desserts, and for home processing (jams, juices).
Resistance and Requirements
  • Diseases: Very good resistance to fungal diseases and root infections.
  • Soil: Requires humus-rich, moist, but well-drained soil with higher nutrient content. Water must drain easily from the roots (intolerant of waterlogging).
  • Climate: Sufficiently frost hardy, suitable even for colder regions.
Cultivation Recommendations
  • Location: Prefers sun and partial shade with adequate air circulation, which reduces the risk of disease.
  • Pruning: Fruits on current year's (primocane) growth. After harvesting is complete in autumn or late winter, cut all canes down to just above ground level (to about 10 cm / 4 inches).
Harvest and Storage
  • Harvest time: Late variety. Ripens from late August throughout the entire autumn.
