Zimolez-Haskap

Lonicera caerulea (Kamchatka honeysuckle) is an extremely frost-resistant deciduous shrub from the Caprifoliaceae family, valued for its very early ripening. Botanically, it is divided into several varieties: European var. caerulea, East Asian var. edulis, Japanese var. emphyllocalyx (known as Haskap) and the key var. kamtschatica, which is the basis for most modern sweet cultivars. The fruit is a blue, fleshy berry (technically a syncarp of two fused ovaries) of a cylindrical shape. Nutritionally, the fruits are rich in vitamin C, potassium, and B vitamins. The phytochemical profile is unique in its combination of high anthocyanin content (especially cyanidin-3-glucoside), which provides strong antioxidant activity, and rare iridoids (e.g., loganic acid), which have significant anti-inflammatory effects, which is rare among common fruits.
