An old Baltic variety with very high yield and good storability.

'Liivi kuldrenett' (meaning "Livonian Golden Reinette") is one of the most popular old autumn varieties in Latvia and Estonia, valued for its very high and regular yield, good storability, and tasty fruits. Thanks to its qualities, it has great breeding significance and has become a parent variety for many new cultivars. Its main disadvantage is its medium frost resistance.

Origin and Registration

• History: One of the most popular old varieties in Latvia and Estonia.

• Size: Small to medium-sized.
• Shape and colour: Round to broadly conical. Yellow, often with a light red blush on the sunny side.
• Flesh: Firm, yellowish-white.
• Flavour: Tasty, sweet-tart.
• Use: Versatile, very suitable for compotes.

Resistance and Requirements

• Frost resistance: Medium. However, it recovers well from frost damage.
• Disease resistance: Fruits are resistant to scab, but leaves are more susceptible. More susceptible to canker on wet soils.

• Harvest time: First half of September.
• Storability: Good, until December-January.
• Yield: Very high and regular.
• Entry into bearing: Early.
