Black Currant (Ribes nigrum) 'Sanyuta' (Санюта)

Highly productive Russian technical variety with large fruits.

'Sanyuta' is a proven Russian black currant variety, bred back in 1961 (registered in 1980). It is primarily considered a technical variety due to its firm skin and dry detachment, making it ideal for mechanical harvesting and processing. Growers are particularly attracted by its extreme yield and high resistance to frost and diseases.

Main advantages of the variety:

  • Extremely high yield (up to 15 kg per bush).
  • Large berries (1.7 – 1.8 g) with firm skin.
  • Dry detachment (suitable for mechanical harvesting).
  • High resistance to frost, drought, and fungal diseases.
  • Undemanding regarding soil, tolerates poorer conditions well.
