'Auksis' is the absolute most popular autumn apple variety in the Baltics, bred in Lithuania. It is valued for its excellent sweet-tart flavour, high and annual yield, and high disease resistance, which makes it suitable for organic cultivation. Due to its exceptional qualities, it is often used in breeding new varieties.

Variety Characteristics

Tree

• Growth: Medium-vigorous, reaches a maximum height of 3 – 4 m.
• Crown: Globular to broadly conical, medium density.
• Pollination: It is cross-pollinated.

Fruit

• Size and weight: Large, with a weight of 120 – 130 g.
• Shape and colour: Oblate. Light yellow, with a carmine-red blush on the sunny side.
• Flesh: Yellowish, fine, very juicy.
• Flavour: Excellent, sweet-tart, aromatic.
• Use: Versatile.

Resistance and Requirements

• Frost resistance: Good.
• Disease resistance: Resistant to scab, mildew, and bark diseases.
• Requirements: Undemanding. Requires a sunny location and fertile, moist, but not waterlogged soil.
