Grapevines Armani, Atos & More: Introducing Modern Resistant Varieties (Part 2)

In the continuation of our series on modern grape varieties, we are holding a casting call for four more stars. We are looking for candidates who meet the strictest criteria: they must not only be delicious and visually appealing, but also resistant to diseases and climate fluctuations. Our stars must shine with minimal need for chemical protection.

"Modern resistant varieties are the answer to the demands of today's viticulture—they allow for more ecological growing without compromise."

We introduce four promising candidates: Andrusha, Armani, Arni, and Atos. Which one will get the leading role in your garden?

Category #1: Best Supporting Actor – Reliability and Yield

In this category, we are looking for a "workhorse" that never disappoints and always delivers a top performance in the form of a bountiful harvest.

Candidate: Andrusha

Andrusha is the ideal choice for gardeners looking for a low-maintenance and high-yielding variety with large clusters and tasty berries without unnecessary complications.

Candidate Profile: Andrusha

  • Origin: 'Lora' x 'Alyj'
  • Ripening Time: Very early (early August)
  • Size: Clusters 700–900 g (up to 2 kg), berries 7–10 g
  • Taste: Harmonious, sweet (16–18 °NM)
  • Hardiness: High resistance to fungal diseases and frost

Jury's Verdict: Andrusha is a reliable workhorse that guarantees a rich and regular harvest. However, due to its extremely high yield, it requires crop load management.

Category #2: Best Visual Effects – Gigantic Berries

In this category, we are looking for a star that wows at first sight. The candidate must have extremely large and attractive berries of premium quality.

Candidate: Armani

Armani is synonymous with luxury and visual perfection. It is valued for its excellent taste and good transportability, making it suitable not only for gardens but also for commercial cultivation.

Candidate Profile: Armani

  • Origin: 'Talizman' x 'Kishmish luchistiy'
  • Ripening Time: Very early (first half of August)
  • Size: Clusters 800–1200 g, berries up to 17–20 g
  • Taste: Fully harmonious, sweet (18–19 °NM)
  • Hardiness: High resistance to fungal diseases and low temperatures

Jury's Verdict: Armani offers some of the largest and most visually stunning berries, ideal for those who want to impress with quality and size.

Category #3: Best Screenplay – Muscat Flavor and Earliness

We are looking for a candidate that brings a unique flavor story to the garden. It must be aromatic, sweet, and appear on the scene as early as possible.

Candidate: Arni

Arni is a dream come true for every lover of Muscat flavors. In addition to its distinct aroma, it also offers very early ripening and high resistance.

Candidate Profile: Arni

  • Origin: 'Podarok Zaporozhyu' x 'Timur'
  • Ripening Time: Super early (late July/early August)
  • Size: Clusters 600–1200 g, berries 10–12 g
  • Taste: Distinct and pure Muscat flavor (17–20 °NM)
  • Hardiness: High resistance to fungal diseases and frost

Jury's Verdict: Arni is one of the earliest Muscat varieties on the market, ideal for impatient gourmets. A bonus is that ripe clusters can hang on the vine for a long time.

Category #4: Best Stunt Performance – Durability and Resilience

In this category, we are looking for an indestructible hero. The candidate must withstand adverse weather, resist wasps, and maintain top quality long after ripening.

Candidate: Atos

Atos meets the highest demands for market qualities. It combines extremely early ripening, excellent taste, and, above all, extraordinary durability.

Candidate Profile: Atos

  • Origin: 'Talizman' x 'Kodrianka'
  • Ripening Time: Super early (late July to early August)
  • Size: Clusters 700–1500 g, berries 10–12 g
  • Taste: Harmonious, sweet (excellent 19–22 °NM)
  • Hardiness: High resistance to diseases and frost

Jury's Verdict: Atos excels in its unparalleled durability. Ripe clusters can hang on the vine for up to a month without losing quality, they do not crack even in the rain, and are resistant to wasps.
