- The relatively new Black Satin blackberry variety was bred in the USA. It is a thornless variety of blackberry, so it is easy to pick.
- The plant grows moderately vigorously , the growth is semi-erect and needs support. It bears fruit on last year's shoots.
- The fruits are large and sweet, oval in shape, black in colour, very aromatic to spicy, with an excellent taste. It is a very productive variety, easy to grow and particularly suitable for home gardeners.
- The harvesting period is long, it is very early, starts fruiting at the beginning of August and continues to produce throughout the summer.
- It produces a very large and regular crop.
- It likes slightly acidic soil that is slightly moist. It suffers less from lack of water than raspberries because it has a deeper root system.
- It requires a sunny site or partial shade.
- It can be planted throughout the year, preferably at a distance of 1-3m
- The blackberry fruit is very healthy, suitable for direct consumption as well as for juicing or preserving.
- It has good disease resistance and has the highest hardiness
- In summer, cut back the tips of the annual shoots to stimulate them to branch out. In early spring, the main shoot will have shortened to a height of about 1.7 m and the secondary shoots to a length of 30-40 cm.After harvesting, cut off all fruiting shoots and any excess annuals immediately at the change. Leave 5-7 strong shoots for fruiting next year.
