An old Lithuanian variety with excellent flavour and large fruits.

'Ananasas', also known as 'Beržininkų ananasas', is an old Lithuanian autumn apple variety, valued for its large fruits with an excellent, sweet-tart, and very aromatic flavour. It is characterized by good disease resistance. Its main disadvantages are the very vigorous growth of the tree and a late entry into bearing.

• Shape and colour: Round-conical, slightly ribbed. Greenish-yellow, turning yellow to ivory when fully ripe, with a light orange blush on the sunny side.

• Flesh: Yellowish, firm, juicy.
• Flavour: Excellent, sweet-tart, very aromatic.
