The variety 'Czerniowicki 1' is native to the Ukraine and is one of the most highly valued varieties of royal walnut due to its fertility, kernel quality and adaptability to different climatic conditions. This variety is suitable not only for production orchards but also for individual cultivation.

The fruit of 'Czerniowicki 1' is medium to large, with a high kernel percentage of up to 55 %. The kernel is light, highly oily and sweet, with an excellent taste, which experts rate better than that of well-known varieties such as the Hungarian 'Milotai 10'. The nuts ripen between late September and early October, making them suitable for cultivation in many regions.

The trees of this variety are medium to large in stature with vigorous growth and good bud formation. They are characterised by rapid tillering of shoots, which contributes to their resistance to climatic variations. The type of fruiting is semilateral, which means that they fruit on both lateral and apical buds. At a young age, the trees are particularly prolific due to the high number of female flowers on the lateral buds. At older ages, fertility stabilises and the trees are less sensitive to spring frosts due to later flowering.

The variety requires compatible pollinators as the female flowers flower before the male. Recommended pollinators include 'Perłowy', which is considered the most suitable, and other varieties such as 'CEG', 'Krasicki', 'Broadview', 'B28' and 'U17'.

Disease resistance is high. Susceptibility to anthracnose is comparable to the variety 'Mars'. Bacterial blight damage occurs during prolonged rainfall, but the variety has an excellent ability to self-heal when weather conditions improve.

Czerniowicki 1' is ideal for southern and eastern regions where it produces stable yields, but is also suitable for more northerly areas due to its later onset of vegetation and rapid tillering of shoots. It is recommended to grow on aerated and elevated sites to protect against spring frosts.
