- Pear Kirgizskaja Zimnaja, also known as Kirgiz Winter Pear, is a pear variety originating from Kyrgyzstan, a country in Central Asia. It is a winter pear, meaning it ripens in autumn and is capable of withstanding cold winter conditions. Kirgizskaja Zimnaja pear is an interesting tree with attractive fruits, although it is less well-known in our region.
- Kirgizskaja Zimnaja is a moderately vigorous tree with a pyramidal shape. It is expected to reach a height of 4 to 5 meters. The pear is not demanding in terms of soil and prefers moderately heavy, well-draining soil.
- It is a cross-pollinating tree, requiring another pear variety for pollination. It blooms in late March to April, and its flowers and fruits are somewhat resistant to frost.
- The fruits of Kirgizskaja Zimnaja pear are large, weighing up to 250g, with smooth yellow-green to yellow skin and a red blush all over. The flesh is white-cream, juicy, and has a sweet taste with mild acidity. It is suitable for fresh consumption, but can also be used for cooking, baking, or making jams and compotes. The fruits hold firmly on the tree during ripening.
- It ripens in early October but can be stored in the refrigerator until February or even April. Kirgizskaja Zimnaja pear is known for its cold hardiness and storage ability during long winter months. It is a popular variety in regions with cold climates, where having fruit that can withstand extended periods without damage is desirable. It is also easy to grow and not demanding in terms of cultivation.
