- Berry fruits such as redcurrants are among the standards in our gardens. Ribes rubrum Rosetta is one of these varieties. This variety was bred in the Netherlands. It is very prolific with attractive fruit. It is suitable for home gardeners but also for commercial cultivation.
- This variety of red currant grows vigorously, has strong upright branches The shoots at the base of the bush are stiff. The older thick branches tend to split. Intensive pruning begins only in the fourth year after planting. Most fruit and form on shoots growing from wood three years old and older. A properly maintained shrub has about 10 skeletal branches. Pruning is always carried out after harvest.
- The fruits are very large and sweet, growing in long clusters with a red colour and a refreshing sour taste. Rosetta currant produces regular and good quality fruit with excellent flavour. The currants are suitable for direct consumption but also for processing or freezing.
- Currant fruits contain many vitamins and minerals, so they should not be missing in any garden.
- Rosetta currants ripen in early July.
- The variety is self-pollinating and fully hardy.
- The currant likes a sunny site or partial shade. It is grown in loamy soils with plenty of moisture.
