- The JACHIM column cherry originated in Germany by crossing the Köröser and Safir varieties. It is ideal for small gardens or ornamental planting due to its interesting compact growth.
- The tree grows compactly, has a narrow columnar habit, about 3m tall. To maintain its shape, pruning is advisable. The JACHIM cherry grows on a Mahalebka rootstock which is a medium growing rootstock, not suitable for heavy soils , it has a good root system. With this rootstock, the tree comes into fruiting sooner.
- Flowering of JACHIM cherry depends on climatic conditions and geographical location. It generally flowers in April or May. It is a self-pollinating variety.
- The fruit of JACHIM is medium-sized, red in colour and weighs approximately 5 to 7 grams. They are juicy and have a sweet and sour taste, but mostly sweet. They ripen in July. The JACHIM cherry produces a regular and abundant crop. The fruit has good resistance to cracking even in excessive rain.
- It likes a sunny position. It comes into fruitfulness very early, and yields are high and regular. This variety is particularly suitable for home-growing for fresh consumption, canning, freezing, liqueurs and spirits.
- It is sufficiently resistant to diseases and pests, so it is suitable for organic cultivation, without the use of sprays.
