Romanian summer variety with attractive red fruits and high resistance.

'Argessis' is a quality summer pear variety bred at the Piteşti – Mărăcineni institute by crossing ‘Napoca’ and ‘B.P. Morettini’. It is valued for its attractive fruits with a prominent red blush, high productivity, and especially for its high resistance to fungal diseases.

Main advantages of the variety:

• High resistance to Scab and Leaf spot.
• Attractive fruits with a red blush (50 – 60% of the surface).
• High and regular yield (up to 30 t/ha).
• Later flowering (protection against frosts).
• Refreshing and balanced taste.

Variety Characteristics

Tree

• Vigor: Medium.
• Yield: Medium to high (25 – 30 t/ha), regular.

Fruit

• Size and Weight: Medium to large, 120 – 140 g (average 125 g).
• Shape and Color: Pyriform with a short neck, slightly asymmetric. The skin is yellow-green, with 50 – 60% of the surface covered by bright red. Fine russet dots are visible.
• Flesh: White, medium firm, semi-melting to melting, juicy.
• Taste: Refreshing, balanced, with a subtle specific aroma.
• Storage: Summer variety. Lasts 7 – 14 days under normal conditions, max 1 month in the fridge.
• Usage: Primarily for fresh consumption.
