Apple (Malus domestica) 'Inedit'

Modern winter Romanian variety with high yield and attractive fruits.

'Inedit' is a modern winter apple variety bred at the SCDP Voinești station and registered in 2009. It is characterized by high production potential, very good disease resistance, and attractive fruits with interesting greenish flesh.

Main advantages of the variety:

• High production potential (30 – 35 t/ha).
• Very good resistance to Scab.
• Large fruits with attractive bright red color.
• Firm, crisp, and juicy flesh.
• Long storage life (until March).

Variety Characteristics

Tree

• Vigor: Medium to weak.
• Bearing: Bears fruit on short spurs and shoots. High production potential (30 – 35 tons/ha).

Fruit

• Size and Weight: Large, weighing 155 – 160 g.
• Shape and Color: Conical-round. The skin is attractive, covered with bright red color on approx. 2/3 of the surface.
• Flesh: Greenish color, firm, crisp, and juicy.
• Taste: Sweet, very good.
• Usage: Intended for fresh consumption and processing.

Resistance and Requirements

• Resistance: Characterized by very good resistance to Scab and is only very slightly affected by Powdery Mildew.

Cultivation Recommendations

• Care: Due to heavy fruit set, it requires fruit thinning to maintain size and quality.

Harvest and Storage

• Harvest time: Winter variety, last decade of September.
• Storage: Fruits last from harvest until February – March.
