Mulberry Seedless is a representative of the well-known popular species of tree raspberry, as it is often popularly called. Mulberries are characterised by their black, soft, tasty berries, which are known as a distinctive natural colouring. They are popular for direct consumption, but are also versatile for use in cold and hot cooking. The seedless mulberry boasts soft black fruits that do not contain seeds and thus can have an even more delicious taste and better properties for use in fruit creams, cakes, juices or drinks.

The tree is smaller than the classic mulberry. It can reach 4 to 5 metres, but this can be limited by cutting. It has light green, smaller leaves and is particularly pleasing to the grower because of its higher production of fruit, which grows between June and July. The fruits are about 3 to 4 centimetres long with a pleasant sweet taste when ripe, dark purple, seemingly black. Because of the attractiveness of the mulberry's spreading habit, it can also be used as a solitaire or as a tree for production in the garden with other mulberry trees.

Benefits of the fruit
Mulberry has several benefits for the human body. The fruits contain high amounts of vitamin C, which supports the immune system, and vitamin K, which is important for bone health. They are rich in antioxidants such as resveratrol and anthocyanins, which protect cells from damage and reduce the risk of chronic diseases. Beneficial alkaloids and flavonoids are also found in the fruit. The fibre in mulberries aids digestion and supports a healthy digestive tract. It is also credited with promoting heart health and regulating blood sugar levels.

Mulberry care
Mulberries are undemanding to soil and grow well in a variety of soil types, from sandy to loamy. However, deeper, well-drained soil with a neutral to slightly acidic reaction (pH 5.5-7.0) is ideal. This makes mulberries similar to many similar bush fruits. Mulberries prefer sunny and warm habitats. Mature trees have very good drought tolerance because their deep roots are able to draw water from the lower layers of the soil.

Young mulberry trees without a well-developed root system need regular irrigation, especially during the first few years after planting. They are frost-resistant, which makes them suitable for the climate in all Slovak growing locations. Pruning is not necessary, but if the presence of dry branches, or shaping or taming, requires it, it is advisable to prune in the winter months.
